Keswick Christian 2, Shorecrest MD Girls Gold 0

In some ways, the MD Girls Gold team's second soccer game of the season was the inverse of its first. During game one, the goalie Dulci B. never touched the ball; in game two, Keswick's keeper never touched the ball as Gold had no shots on goal.

The good news is that Gold kept the game close--down just 1-0 at the half. But the Keswick defense frustrated Shorecrest throughout the entire contest. Meanwhile, at our end of the field, Dulci B. finally got her hands on the ball, stopping 11 of 12 shots in the first half and 20 of 21 in the second half--31 of 33 in all. It was an outstanding performance by the rookie.

It could have been much worse, but for the speed of sweeper Ana Gabriela R. and stopper Katerina A.--they were everywhere at once, or so it seemed--as well as some booming kicks by Nadine S. and the tenacity of Katie J., who ran circles around a forward twice her size.

Gold's record is now 2-1. Next game: Monday, December 7 @ Sarasota Christian.
